Tech Topics

Welcome to my first effort at self created blogging with the SHHS staff.

As you know we just finished a student tech survey.   Next we have to figure out how to evaluate and share that data.   We will soon be doing some form of a faculty survey, and later a parental survey, in order to further establish baseline data.   I would like to have you help formulate the faculty survey by proposing questions for the survey.  Please post concise and complete sample questions to this link..........https://spreadsheets0.google.com/ccc?key=tr35BVYda7GP7cgb45J2hMg&authkey=CPjgxcAD&hl=en&authkey=CPjgxcAD#gid=0

In order to hope to create some interest in blogging as a classroom activity,  I am posting a photo from my home album and a short video taken on vacation,  just to show how easy it is to add features that help create student interest.

You can use this blog just to a) experiment with responding to a blog, or b) make other tech comments as you feel needed.

By the way - pics and video from Contoy Island, a game reserve.  We went there from Isla Mujerus, which is an island we stayed at which is off the coast of Cancun about 3 miles.

  1. Did you go sailing or did you go directly to the island? We went sailing and went island hopping once and it was the BEST vacation. Perhaps you should see your home on the river and buy a sailboat??

  2. I kept hoping something bigger was going to come in and eat the ray...oh well.

I think we are doing well at using technology in our building; it has been helpful to be given time to collaborate.

  4. For some reason out here at QD I don't see your video... but the picture is good. I think it would make an excellent wallpaper on your desktop if it's not already.

I think people are getting better at handling technology; however, I think there is a big blank spot for some on not just how to manipulate technology but how it can be used to enhance their teaching.

  7. I think that the trees and the video are slick--Makes me want to take a vacation away from Dullsville, Iowa. OK--Back to work...Have been teaching technology for YEARS and people (including myself) get overwhelmed because there is so much out there--And yes...it can be very scary.

What people have to remember is to not be afraid to make a mistake and try something new. If you don't like it and it doesn't work--so what! There is so much technoweenie stuff out there in cyberworld and software to buy. Get really good at a couple of programs/software and then grow from that.

    Change is good...

  10. I agree with Lori - there is nothing I'd rather do than sit on the beach and talk about technology! :)

  11. The views look wonderful! I would love to be there in about our third snow storm :)

I think that technology is being embraced by lots of people and we are still encountering many aspects of the learning curve. At times the wealth of options can be very overwhelming, but with collaboration and continued staff development, I think the technology can be a very beneficial tool for all classrooms. I think the keyword is "tool" for all classrooms.

  18. This page through google is great. If someone comments about someone else's comment can the first commenter see what they said without a long process. This is like whose on 1st?
